Not a whole lot of details here.
I don't have any credit cards anymore, and I'm able to do all of the things I need to with my debit card. Not sure you need to get a credit card.
Make yourself a budget. Write down the totals of all your debts. Make a list of all of your expenses. Find ways to cut your expenses. Get rid of things you don't need. Be brutal! The less you can live with, the more you can pay off quicker, and the sooner you'll free up your dough for luxury items.
Pay down your debts. Call your creditors and see if you can't make a deal with them. Ask to lower your interest rate, in exchange for on time monthly payments of X $. Sometimes it works, sometimes not.
Get a copy of your credit report, and make sure that all of the info is correct. Occasionally my credit report contains another persons credit info. Usually it's my ex-sister in law, our full names were only two letters different, and we have had the same address at different times. Also dispute any negative reports, sometimes it works, sometimes not.
You can get a number of companies who will repair your credit, and consolidate your debt, they'll do the same thing I just told you to do, but they'll charge you for it, and beware of them, they can pull some shady stunts.
The quicker you pay back your debts, and the less debt you have will positively effect your credit score, so that's what you have to do. Pay it on time, pay it down, pay it off.
Can't pull it off? Go see a banruptcy lawyer for a free consultation, and get them to go over your options. It's not the end of the world, you won't be ruined for life. If your money is too screwed for you to be able to fix it, then you might as well give up and start from scratch. Kill that monster quick, and start over!
Good luck, I hope that helps.

First and foremost DO NOT use a consolidation company. Creditors view this just like bankrupcy. My suggestion is to make a plan to get rid of all of your debts. Look at your finances and decide how much money you have to use. Make sure that you take into account that you need money for groceries, gas and essentials. Once you have a figure, start allocating money to your debts, put the most money towards the debts with the highest interest rates. Make sure that you pay all of your bills on time, even doctor's bills. Consistantly send everybody money every month, even if it's only five dollars, because the consistancy shows that you are committed to paying the bills. The next thing is to apply for a credit card to establish good credit. Start with your bank, sometimes they have secured cards, where the balance is pre-paid. Good Luck.

I know about credit. Even though my credit was bad, I was approved by a credit card company. I will give you the link. You should also find out what your score really is.

You might try like renting something from Rent a Center or something like that. My credit was bad until last year, I went to cleeks and rented a small compact freezer and made sure i paid my bill on time, i even paid it off early. Than i went and rented a washer and dryer also paid it off early and made sure the bill was paid on time. I dont know if that helped or not but now I have good credit, not great but its a start.

Try to pay off all your small debts first. Having one or two outstanding larger debts looks better than multiple outstanding debts. If you can PAYOFF small debts, you can eliminate them off your credit report. Versus keeping all your debts on your credit report while trying to PAY DOWN a few larger ones.
