I am amazed by this. But I heard it from a god freak..

Apparently, god created all this so you can serve him and his wishes.

Do you really velieve that an all seeing and al knowing thing requires this of you? He already knows what your going to do anyway. Seems quite pointless.

And just how could you possibly serve him???

Serve him with what? What doesnt he have already? what could he possibly be lacking.

Serve him with ... spam fritters? Religious types would say 'he's lacking our faith'. I would say, "I'm an atheist. What's for tea?"

Neither angelic nor human creatures were designed & created to be mere servants. We were all created for the Purpose of Sharing Joy & Pleasurable, Meaningful Work! The working out of God's will is still in progress. Certain angels & people threw a 'Monkey Wrench' into God's plans. Fortunately for us, He is More than capable of Both extracting it, and of Putting things Right again! And, this time it will be WithOut the possibility of Any more 'monkey-wrench' dilemmas! The working out of His purposes is setting a Precedent like No other in History!

You are right, the Apostle Paul stated that God didn't "need" anything from us.

I don't have the complete answer, but I will give a shot at it.

You might as well ask, why do we exist? Why did God bother creating us?

It appears that the universe was created as an expression of love by God the Father to God the Son (I.E.: it was intended to be a gift, not a burden).

The universe exists to give God pleasure. Otherwise, he would not have bothered to make the universe to begin with (Why should He? What else can we actually do for God?).

Before one becomes too judgmental on God, ask yourself, why do most people have children? Just so that their children can turn into smart-mouthed teenagers and rebel? No one has children just because they thought that they needed a smart-mouth brat to give them a hard time because their life was too peaceful & quiet without children. If that was all there was to it, then you wouldn't have bothered to have children in the first place.

Most people have children because they believe that having children will bring them joy -- increasing the size of your family increases the number of your relationships.

If those relationships are good -- that is, marked by mutual gratitude & respect on both sides -- then it is fun to have this relationship. If the relationship is bad -- marked by one person being hostile, abusive, or indifferent -- then you cast that person out of your life altogether so you don't have to deal with him anymore (sounds like hell, doesn't it?).

We show worship to God, because he first worshiped us -- first by creating us from nothing; second by sacrificing his most precious asset (his son) to restore a broken relationship between Heaven & Earth.

We love (worship) God because he first loved us. Why would God want a one-sided relationship with an indifferent & ungrateful humanity?

It depends on what you mean by serve. In my book when I hear of people doing work for the benefit of others, those who choose to serve are doing so as an act of love. Perhaps all this is too sugary for your likes, but you asked the question, I am giving my view. My belief in God is based solely on the premise that God is Love and every manifestation of that word, therefore, unjust punishment, slavery drudgery have no meaning in my belief of God. Can't speak for anyone else! Though reading some of the replies to this question, it would appear that plenty of others think that they can!

You can serve him by obeying his commandments
and loving him.

He is a RULER meant to be served. You live your life
FOR HIM. Does that mean you can't have a life? Not at all.

GOd said he is a jealous God, he deserves and wants
the attention.

Lets look at it from a different perspective.
IF YOU COULD create a living race of people, don't you think they would owe you some respect?

No, I do not believe in any gods, and what you mention is infantile. Freud said that one who loves mankind is sad to realize that most people will never rise above such ----! If there were gods, they probably would not care what insignificant mortals did. Some people can only feel they are worth something if they believe a powerful diety cares what they do. That is so immature. People are lower than ants to gods. Do you want some ants in your back yard to serve you? I do not! If they come into my home, I put out some Combat, but as long as they stay out, I couldn't care less what they do. I don't want my lover to be my servant. It is so immature to believe any gods want servants.

Yes, God has a plan and purpose for my life, which as I look back over the years, and I can the pattern of it thus far. He also has a plan and purpose for your life too, if you would like to persue it. I believe it because I see God's hand in my life every day! I have a living relationship with Him, He is my best friend, He has done so much for me - be humble enough to turn your life over to Him. Man's greatest need is for forgiveness, and you have have that, because He has paid the punishment for your sin and mine. He died in your place.

The Bible says, there is a way which seems right unto man, but in the end it leads to death.

Seek Him today! For today is the day of salvation.

He needs us to help bring people's souls back to Him, because of the fall, we were separated from God. Now, Christ became the way to God when He died on the cross for us, so we as Christians need to bring others to accept Christ into their lives. God didn't just create everything for us to serve Him, He also created the earth for us to enjoy, because He loved and loves us.

God created us and everything else for the same reasons we love to create. It isn't God who is lacking, but mankind. We serve God by serving others. In doing so we show our appreciation for our creator.

Well, the bible says we are put here to fill the Earth and tell them about God and to serve him. In a few more words though, of course. When they say "serve" though, they dont mean to get him anythign and actually serve it. Serving God is living a moral healthy lifestyle, and praising him for allowing us to do so. All he wants is your respect for his creation (yourself and the world) and for you to live happily. Well, at least thats what I got from the bible.

No, because he could have created what he want to serve him!
HE created this for love, to full a planet, he created us to take care of that planet, the animals, plants and what ever exists in it.
Is like our parents, they gave us life because they choose too (well some and others by accidents!) And do parents want you to serve them...NO. What parents wants is that you love them and respect them and go on with your life!
That is why God created us, because of love!
