to have websites and books and other media devoted to disproving the existence of God, but people who do not believe in unicorns do not have media devoted to disproving the existence unicorns?

My goal here was to get people to think about what they do and why they do it and what the result will be. As a Christian I find it very offensive for people to push their beliefs on others even if I agree with them. The real commission left behind for Christians is not to convert people, merely to share the gospel.Too many people think that God needs their help in convicting those who who will have a change of mind.In the process they turn people off to their good news and harden them to a point of anger toward the gospel. It is usually the angry atheist who makes it a mission to convince people there is no God.Until they are ticked off, because of some religious nut pushing beliefs on them, they are usually quiet atheists who mind their own business. We are told that the world will recognize Christians by their love, unfortunately very few Christians have this love within them which leads to activities that make people recognize them by their Bible thumping, which is not God's way.

it's point-counter point. Theists make websites, books, and other media trying to prove the existence of God and yet people who believe in unicorns don't have media proving unicorns exist.

Unicorns don't assert to give salvation. Religion does. Therefore the argument is much more significant. Also, unicorns don't have anything to do with philosophy. Religion does. People like to debate philosophy.
I guess where I said religion it would be more accurate to put 'collection of beliefs' to include all parties.
Edit addressing the comment above: No, we do not believe that religion is the root of all evil. It's only one piece, but it is an extremely important one. Yes, it's probably true that if religion were gone, we'd find something else to hate each other about, but at the moment religion is still around and causing hate between cultures.

I don't see a lot of people telling me that this nation was founded on the principles of Unicornism and that all morality and law must be based upon the opinions of unicorns. If they did, I would spend a lot of time trying to show that there's no good evidence that unicorns exist, I'd argue against the historical and artistic references that Unicordians would use to prove that unicorns are real. I'd try to demonstrate that even those who live their life unicorn free are just as decent and moral and good and live lives as full and meaningful as those who claim to go on unicorn rides daily and who devote their lives to serving unicorns. Perhaps those who don't claim to have a personal relationship with unicorns are even better, morally speaking.
Now if there were a lot of people who had a sincere belief in unicorns I might try not to mock them or insult them but instead would try to argue my position in a non-hostile way. But the more the people argued that we must change our laws to meet the desires of unicorns and the more people argued that people who don't believe in unicorns are fools, liars or insane the more adamantly I'd argue my unicorn-free viewpoint.

When unicornists start to:
1. Kill people who don't believe in unicorns
2. Elect people who put "In Unicorn We Trust" on our currency
3. Require little kids to say "Under Unicorn" in school or risk getting beaten up by the other kids.
4. Threaten those who don't believe in unicorns with eternal torture.
5. Constantly insult unicorn unbelievers.
6. Fight to require teaching of unicorn mythology in Science classes.
7. Pass laws prohibiting anything not allowed by unicorn mythology.
Then I suspect you will see websites and books telling people unicorns don't exist as well.

Because there is no group of people who are devoted to saying that unicorns DO exist. These are two completely seperate and unrelated topics. You cannot campare them. And, why do christians find it nesisary to have websites and books and other media devoted to PROVING the existance of god? Everyone has a right to do this. You need to stop thinking that yours is the only right way to think.

Christians have an agenda, using theology to take over every ones lives. They have major political power. Atheist dont want the dark ages back again. Primitive religion with modern technology is very very scary!
We want peace and tolerance for all mankind, just dont want to be ruled by primitive superstition.
I dont think you can find too many website by atheist trying to disprove the existence of 'God'. Only websites discrediting christianity, Islam, Judaism, Hinduism and many other religions (which the religions themselves also do to other religions)

Seems obvious to me... not many people believe in unicorns, but most people believe in God.
Also, Athiests live in a universe where all the evil that occurs on this planet is due to religion instead of intrinsic human failings.
They live with the idea that if only religion were eliminated, we would live in a peaceful, progressive paradise. (One need only look at Soviet Russia and communist China to see the lunacy of this viewpoint, but many Athiests hold it!)
So therefore they wish to debunk and discredit religion to bring about a happier, healthier planet.
At least that's what I'd like to believe... maybe they're just bitter & angry and they don't know why?

It is accepted that unicorns do not exist. It is accepted that the sun will rise. No one tries to defend or disprove these points of view. No one tries to tell us different. No one tries to legislate unicorn and sun based laws. There is no need to stop unicorns.

Communist China is thriving right now and it has nothing to do with any religion or lack there of.

Because believers in unicorns aren't claiming that the unicorns have told them and everyone how to live and are thus trying to run the government and the schools.

Hello? Do you have a brain? Look around you, God shapes the world we live in, regardless if God is real or merely a delusional fantasy in people's minds. Unicorns don't. We want to make people understand that God is JUST LIKE the unicorns.(mythical fairytales)
