How about Gelato? Does that count?
If so, I'd have to say chocolate gelato (bought and sold in Italy, of course), though Nocciola (Hazelnut) is much better!
However, their strawberry (fragola) is also not one to be missed...hmmm...they're all good when dealing with authentic gelato!
American ice cream just leaves much to be desired...*sigh* Oh well. Vanilla ice-cream would have to be my pick if I were limited to only the American version...

well - vanilla is the most versatile for adding toppings and using in shakes and frappes, strawberry is really good with fresh strawberries on it, and chocolate is a great fix on a hot day. depends on my mood
