why would/wouldn't they admit it?

not if they're truly jealous. When my parents went on a cruise I said, "I'm so jealous". But I wasn't so jealous that I was upset. I just thought it would be nice if I could go on a cruise. True jealousy (the kind that sparks animosity) is rarely recognized by the person harboring it.

A sincere person will be honest enough to say he or she is jealous to the person himself.Those who do that is to keep their relationship at the top.

Depends on how mature they are - teenagers though, not likely. They're probably not even self aware enough to admit it to themselves.

In my situations, NO. they dont. Sometimes because of pride, embarassment, felling inferior to someone, feeling superior to someone, not wanting to feel stupid or rejected, or feeling misplaced or replaced.
but sometimes, depends on the person
