Our cinema doesn't make sweet popcorn. If you really want sweet popcorn, try kettle corn. It's made by adding sugar to the pot when they pop the corn, imparting sweetness to the popcorn.
Here's one receipt:
Use a non stick 4 qt pot or so.
Add Vegetable oil, covering the bottom of the pot. Heat oil(med-high).Add a couple kernels of popcorn to the oil & when they look like there starting to bubble in the oil,add enough kernels to cover the bottom of your pot. Then add a couple tablespoons of sugar to this mixture, stir quickly & cover.Shake the pot back & fourth over the burner, until popping starts. The popcorn is done when only a few kernels pop every couple of seconds.Take off the heat & take off the top slowly. This can burn you so be carefull.Pour into large bowl & enjoy.Remember Sugar can burn,so don't over cook this popcorn or it will be burntcorn, not good.

"White sugar makes the Kettle Corn taste like popcorn balls. Use brown sugar and it will taste like caramel corn."
INGREDIENTS:
1/2 cup unpopped popcorn
kernels

1/4 cup white sugar
1/4 cup vegetable oil
DIRECTIONS:
1. Place the popcorn and sugar in a large pot with vegetable oil. Over a medium heat, begin to pop the popcorn. Constantly shake the pot to ensure that the popcorn kernels and oil do not burn. Once the popping has slowed, remove the pot from heat.

i have a popcorn popper (it is basically the thing you see inside the big popcorn poppers with the glass around it) except you use it on the stove! you can find it at a kitchen capers type store. it is great because they have popcorn packs you can buy that have the oil, butter, & popcorn kernels in one! if you don't want to buy the packages, it works well with a bit of canola oil & a cup or two of kernels. you can buy all different things to flavor it. it is really a worthy investment. i can't tell you how long it has been since we have bought microwave popcorn! (once you taste the stovetop, you won't like anything else!) they are great!
