I am in SC, I work at a Detention Center we are hiring like crazy. I also have seen ads for local Police Departments. It really depends where you are looking, what you are looking for, and your qualifications. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

It looks like the KSP is testing on 8/12.

Most local police agencies in Kentucky send their new trainees to EKU in Richmond, KY. You might check to see if any training you've received will transfer. Deputy sheriffs in Kentucky are hired by the sheriff, an elected official. Kentucky is different from most other states; it has a jailer and a sheriff in each county, and the sheriff has nothing to do with running the jail.

also go to the Lexington Police website and fill out a job interest form and the Civil service will send info on upcoming test dates
