What is the difference between a couple cohabiting vs. a couple marrying each other and then living together...is there a huge difference? I hear many couples live together for years, but once they get married things go downhill...? What changes between living together before marriage and living together after marriage?

A couple cohabiting is just they live together, but no permanent plans of staying together. Well, some say they do, and that marriage isn't right for them, but.... Marriage is plans to live together for the rest of their lives. (That's the way marriage is supposed to work, but these days... )

It's true that people who live together before they get married have a much higher rate of divorcing and having problems than those who wait until they're married to live together. I honestly couldn't tell you why that is... but that is the case, for sure.

Perhaps it's just that, the people who live together get married... and nothing changes. At all. I mean, they're living together, and doing what they want, and perhaps they expect marriage to somehow change that... I don't know, just thoughts I'm having, lol.
