My Roomie was told she should line the kitty box with an adult diaper instead of kitty litter, 'cause the kitten will inhale the kitty litter and get sick. Do you know anything about this?

I've heard of that. It's not so much as the litter, it's the dust. The kittens/cats can inhale the dust and develop allergies and/or asthma over time.

Yes, I have. It really isn't the kitty litter they are getting sick from, it's the feces and urine in the litter. You have to change it very frequently and keep it cleaned in between times.

Kittens are curious, as you probably know. They are just like any other babies, everything winds up in the mouth eventually. They learn by taste, smell and feel. If they ingest dirty litter then it can make them sick.

Keep it clean. Good Luck.

Yes I had that same problem with a litter of kittens. The Doc said it had something to do with the respiratory system of the little kittens and the dust kicked up in the litter box. I used wood shavings and it helped their health improve. Good luck

Unless your kitten has a health problem already, kitty litter will not harm him. I've raised a number of kittens, and have never seen any kitty-litter related illnesses.

clay litter is bad for them to breathe in - the dust can contribute to lung problems - non-scented clumping is much better, as with the good quality litter there is no dust,
clumping litter shouldnt be used on kittens under 8 weeks

you can use litter at a certain age. but keep an eye on her to see what she does. my cat never had that problem it is probably just the dust from the litter. hope your cat is doing well!

i heard the same thing.....once they are a certain age you can begin using litter....research it on the internet to find out what age.
instead of adult diapers (very expensive), use ripped up newspaper instead.

no that's not true but keep them away from litter. believe it or not they might lick it and sufficate cause they can't breathe. cause litter absorbs wetness. that's means the kits tounge. my couzins kit died from that. keep him away from the protection of your kits. hopefully all ur kits will surrvive. 3 om my couzins kits died.
