I have a 1996 Ford Explorer that makes a very loud clunking sound that comes from the front of the truck, but only when it gets hot outside. It's not the brakes but I've had someone suggest suspension. You can feel it reverberate through the steering column as well. Any help would be great.

Upper ball joint, lower ball joint, suspension, loose lug nuts, loose steering arm (Pittman arm). You need to get it in the shop and up on the rack so they can find and fix the problem before your front tire falls off going down the road at 65 and you wreck it out.

That noise has been in every Ford I have owned. We would take them in to the dealer and they could never find anything. Good luck.
