The Army just raised their age limit for first term enlistees. However, family size and other consdierations must be taken into account. anything more than 3 dependants(spouse and 2 children) requires a waiver. If you are unmarried with children, you are disqualified from serving Active Duty, but you can go Guard or some Branches also allow single parents to join the reserves.
Physical fitness is also a consideration.. you must pass all the requirements as well as score decently on the ASVAB. If you have a college degree, you can get a higher paygrade upon enlisting, or you may be eligible to become an Officer.

The cut off for new recruits is 27, I'm not positive if there is an age limit to rejoin if you were previously a member of the military. I'm sure there probably is, but if you were in the military previously, the maximum age that they would take back, would most likely be directly linke to the rank you held prior to leaving.......and if you were dishonorably discharged, court marshalled or in any other way left for a negative reason, they'd not be likely to allow you to rejoin.
I'm speaking of full time service.....reserves, coast guard and such have their own standards, which are generally much more lenient.

The age limit for the Army is 42. Active or reserve. If you are married, then dependents arent an issue. You might have to fill out a budget sheet that shows them you can support your family on Army pay. I only know about the Army, hope that helped. See a recruiter for more details. www.goarmy.com

The US Army is currently taking enlistments to people as old as 41. If you children are under 18 you must have a guardian for them while you are in basic training or they will not let you sign up. Also, because of your age it is very important that you be in excellent health and fitness if you wish to sign up. Try going to goarmy.com to get more specific answers.
