It might give them means to take us out. I'll be glad that live in tin shacks in the desert for now.

I just think they would need an entirely different mentality build anything great. Even when the Palestines were given all the green houses and farms when Israel pulled out the looted and destroyed everything. Now they are complaining that no one is giving them money. They have no sense of self preservation.

Excellent point, from one Carolina girl to another. Poverty and illiteracy combined with the leadership of zealots has corrupted the minds of so many in the Middle East. It will take generations for Islamic led nations to come out of the dark ages. Islam has given the people of the Middle East nothing but hundreds of years of misery. Seems like the Great Allah hasn't been taking very good care of his people....

You don't have the story right. Al Qaeda came to life as a result of American war against Islam and supporting the enemy of Islam Israel for long time and it was said that Bush is the best recruiting officer for al Qaeda members by his foolish policy against Islam, and Hezbollah came to face the Israeli war against Lebanon, go back and review the chronology of the conflict and you will know who is the cause and who is the result, action, and reaction, victim and murderer.

You have hit the nail right on the head. EVERY terrorist group or radical government takes advantage of the fact that people are "downtrodden" when trying to gain support. They ALL find someone to blame. Having groups of poor or groups with no opportunity for better lives is essential for terrorists or radicals. You have to wonder if the reason there are so many "downtrodden" people is because that's the way terrorists, etc., need them to stay that way.

It does raise the question of priorities - Kinda like spending all your energy trying to convert people instead of strengthening your own faith. It has become imperative now to many in that region to destroy the threat of the west and I don't really blame them. Now we are seen as the obstacle that keeps them from being able to advance. So in their way they are trying to advance BY destroying us. It all depends on your point of view. You can debate what effect the US has on their society and culture (I'm not going to get into that), but you can't debate that they BELIEVE the US is the problem. However, the victim mentality has never gotten many people very far.

You do realize who brought Islamic rule (SHaria law) to Iraq, don't you? It was the US. They were a secular nation before that.

The same thing happened in Iran in the 50s with the US/UK overthrowing their democracy.

We refuse to sanction Saudia for their horrid human rights violations because we want to stay on their best buddy side.

Perhaps if the West would quit interferring in these nations, the citizens would modernize on their own. Instead, we keep our fingers in the pot and keep the fundamentalists in charge.

who has been actually doing most of the bomb dropping for the past 60 years. you need to restate your question to match the facts.
If you were not working at destroying their countries for so long and so hard Al Quaida and Hezbollah might not have come into existence at all.

They wont for these Islamist freaks... modernity is un-Islamic and sinful. They want the Islamic world and coincidentally the world to be barbaric, inhuman and primitive.

I'm thinking probably not........criminal organizations like hizbullah and dictators like saddam control and manipulate the populations by controlling and limiting knowledge and information and replacing it with their lies, propaganda, and twisted religious rhetoric to influence and enforce their control of the people. the simple truth is that criminal organizations like hizbullah are afraid of the people getting educated and informed outside of their realm of influence, cause then the people will see the truth, see through the lies and be able to think for themselves............that's the last thing that hizbullah wants...they don't ever want people to be educated and strong enough to think on their own, cause then sociopaths like Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah would loose the very thing that they crave......POWER
