Wouldn't it make more sense for the women to have multiple husbands? Logically this would make more sense. Beyond that wouldn't it be better to have children bear the mothers name? As is my experience, women are far less likely to leave the child then the man, and as far as the multiple marriage issue, women are harder to satisfy physically, so multiple spouse's for them would make more sense. Given of course that we are no longer in a position where a man laying his "seed" everywhere to assure continuation of the species is necessary. Thoughts? (I'm sure this will be a good one)

I am not trying to suggest that all should walk this line (I know I couldn't) I am just wondering as to it's logical foundation. Thanks for all of the answers thus far.

I totally agree with you. One woman with many husbands can only produce one kid at a time so the financial needs of the family will not grow past the income. It is way better for the family financially to have more working men and one woman caring for the children. I also like the idea of the children carrying the mothers name. If men could actually stow their ego this would work wonderfully.

It makes more sense for one man to have several wives. Men can fertilize a different egg every day. A woman can get her eggs fertilized every 9 months. With a man and 2 women, you can have 2 babies in under a year. With 2 men and a woman, it takes twice as long to get a second child.

If a woman had more than one husband it would take some time to have children by each one, would it not? There is good reason why God said, One man One woman and they should become one. And that nonsense about a woman not leaving a child, what about all the babies they find in garbage cans, toilets, and other grotesque things woman have done to their offspring? Not to mention all the unnecessary abortions. Lame argument.

I don't care, whatever rings your bell. As long as consenting adults decide to do so you can have 23 men in your life for all I care.
Given the fact that the average guy thinks about sex about every 7-25 seconds and the average woman perhaps once a day (slight exagerating here), a relationship between 4 men and one woman would be HELL.

I could not agree with you more every point you make here is valid. I suppose it is another example of how patriarchy has its hold on the world in our cultures. I think it should be a valid choice for those who want it. The thing is that most women(at least most women that I know) would probably not choose this as they tend to be more faithful to one partner than men. This is a generalization of course.

I *heart* these kinds of questions....
Would make more sense, perhaps, but we don't want more then one husband in our house! One of you is enough! Especially once the children do come along!
However, keeping more then one lover, in different households.....I could see that working for some women..... if the religious zealots of the world could just keep their faith outta our bedrooms!
