I just got married and my hubby is not too excited about my cat. He has a very sensitive nose, so I want to make sure he NEVER smells her litter box. For the record, he has never asked me to get rid of her...but I know litter box smells bother him and I want to make him happy. I need to know which cat litter does the absolute most incredible job ELIMINATING odors (yes, yes, I know I have to clean it frequently as well!). Thanks so much!

Honestly, your BEST guarantee is to boot kitty out.

There is a mat the you place under the box, if you have a covered box, right by the opening, and the cat hops out and a lot of litter falls into the mat and helps with the tracking litter all over the place Petco or even Walmart. As for the smell, I am a volunteer at the Humane Society and we clean usually around 20-40 cats. The trick is to clean EVERY day and wash the box once a month or if it is warranted with an accident. There are, if you have a covered litter box, these charcoal cartridges for the top filtration that helps and lasts 6-8 weeks. Odor rises and if you can neutralizes it before it atomizes, you will nip it in the butt! Good Luck to you.

First clean out the entire litter box. Then layer the bottom with baking soda and fill the little box with a clumping litter that can be thrown away. They even have a flushable kind. If you keep on on removing the clumps the litter box wont smell.

PetSmart has a spray too called Stink Free.

Try adding baking soda to any litter..I think there is actually a litter by Arm&Hammer if that's easier. Also, I have a litter box with a top and a little flap door (sorta like a doggy door) it works pretty good. That mixed with cleaning it out every day should do the trick. Good luck

As a rule, the more expensive it is, the better it works. Also try to let the cat outside more if its an outdoor/indoor cat.

I know you hate to spend 10 bucks on something your cat is going to crap in but if it makes hubby happy, it will make you happy.

Also find a good spot for it. You don't want it anywhere near the TV room or the sleeping area.

The clumping stuff works very well. Buy the kind that says it won't "track". Of course if your cat is like mine and doesn't bury it, the best stuff in the world isn't going to do you any good.

Prominence clumping litter is what I use for my nine cats, and people comment that it doesn't smell like I have cats in the house. You still need to scoop it frequently (I've never had just one cat, not sure if you'd still need to do it every day or not.)

The Tidy Cat one with crystals is very good and if you mix baking soda in with any cat litter, it keeps the odor down too. Good luck.
