when a u.k naval officer is being tried during a courts martial he/she is still alowed to wear there dress sword during the trial,instead of surrendering it befor hand.why is the reason for this

It is symbolic that he relinquishes his authority (or command) to the court. The same would apply to the crown and sceptre as a vanquished monarch.

I would think it's because he is innocent until proven guilty.
