They are both beautiful, but Rome is better. The people are nicer to Americans and it has some pretty spectacular sites (Paris does too, but Rome's are a LOT older). 2000 years and more, which make them even more outstanding. Roman engineering at its best. Rome is also more affordable than Paris. Depending upon the time of year that you go, the weather can be a lot nicer, too. It is horrible in the summer months, though - it was in the 90s in August, when I was there one year. The nights were HOT. It is very nice in April, both day and night, and in February the days are nice but the nights are rather cool. Get yourself a good guidebook, as there is so much to see. Rick Steves has some good books, Lonely Planet, Fodors, Let's Go gives budget prices if you're on a tight budget. Be sure and make hotel reservations before you go.

Depends on the temperature the day you are there. I actually like Rome more than Paris. The Italians were friendly and helpful, were the French were rude. Both have great sites to see and full of history. Rome was cheaper than Paris, too.

I've only looked at Rome from a distance, but what I saw was beautiful. And Paris was lovely, too. I couldn't choose.

Isn't it VivE la France? I wouldn't know perche' io parlo italiano. Should Rome be compared to Paris? I love Paris, but there is absolutely nothing like Rome. Forza AS Roma.

I went to Rome for the first time this spring. Way way cool.
I've only been to Paris once and I was jet-lagged and grumpy. But Jim Morrison's grave is there so that gives it the edge.
