I am all set and ready to paint. I picked the color BM Philadelphia Cream but I'm not sure whether to get flat finish or eggshell. My walls have a lot of imperfections. The room is a combined living room/dining room/hallway. Any suggestions or preferences?

the flat will not be easy to keep clean but it will not the imperfections on the walls...use the flat and keep some for touch-ups as you need it..

Eggshell would be best to hide the imperfections as it has more depth. Also eggshell is easier to keep clean. Fingerprints and smudge marks come off easily with a damp rag. Be sure and keep some on hand after you finish the job. Touch up painting can keep your new paint job looking fresh for years to come.

Before you paint do some prep work, you will be much happier with the outcome!! Sand any high spots and fill any indentations with Spackle and sand smooth.
The type of finish is really personal preference, but I believe that the eggshell will hide more of the imperfections.

Flat finish definitely for imperfect walls anything else will highlight the defects

Flat is hard to clean but will not show as many imperfections.

Still, I would go eggshell. It's a better sheen and you can clean it.

Depends on YOUR taste really. Eggshell will have a slight sheen but not much and looks really nice.

the girl at the store told me to paint in flat...eggshell has sorta a sheen to it, which is most often seen in bathrooms..

Use Grahams Ceramic flat, it's pricy but is more durable then any latex availabe and will still hide the imperfections
