It's funny to mock all the serious people.

I don't even want to know what wine tasting you went to that the people were that serious.

I belong to a wine group here in Ontario, Canada but none of us are all that serious about wines. We know what we like and we know what we don't like but we're not some stuffy uptight group of snobs like the way the wine club on Frasier was on TV.

Try another wine club and enjoy the wine but don't give it all 10's - they're not all that good.

No!! But a long time ago I went to an expensive restaurant and ordered the most expensive bottle of wine on there list. The wine was brought to me, I looked at the bottle, it was opened with all the pomp and circumstance you can imagine. A small amount was poured into a glass and given to me to taste. I swirled the wine around, drank it all, swirled it around my mouth and spit it all over the carpet. The waiter went WHITE, I waited a moment before saying, "The wine is magnificent, pour it around". The manager came out and asked me if I was having some problem and I told him to mind his business and get our food to the table and it best be as we ordered. I'm not kidding, the entire restaurant went quiet when I spit that wine. Needless to say I tipped everyone well, in cash on my way out....

I've actually never been to a wine tasting where you raise your hand and vote, or rate the wines. At the majority of them, you take a sip, roll it around in your mouth to get the flavor, spit it out, then learn about it (such as what type of food it goes with, what kind of grape it comes from, how it's made, etc.), cleanse the palate, and then do the same thing over and over. You're not really supposed to swallow the wine and get drunk.
