My ex works for the sheriff's department. I moved away to go to school 2 1/2 hours away. Suddenly, he's here and has been calling and harrassing me. It's scary. He says his actual work site is at least a 30 minute drive away from the city I live in. So why isn't he living there? He's smack dab in the middle of the city where i live. What are the chances that his transfer is just a coincidence?

First he can not be transfered outside of his county, so unless you live in one big county, this is a lie. For example if he works for the Sparta County sheriff office, he can not transfer to the Marion County sheriff office, he can quit one job and get hired at another, but there is no transfer between departments.

So with this being 2/12 hours away, it does not sound like the same county to me.

Next if he is harrassing you report it to the local police in your area and also his department ( if he still works there)

Getting transferred within a sheriff's department to a place a couple of hours away is highly unusual. I'd say he worked hard to make the transfer happen.

Get a restraining order, and call his supervisor to let him know that you're getting the restraining order. They can transfer him back if they feel he'll be a problem for the department.

Harrassment is nothing to take lightly. If you feel harrassed, tell the local police. Each report builds a case against your ex.
