Muscle Strain
Muscle strain at one time has effected all of us, from the weekend athlete who over did a workout to a mother lifting up a heavy toddler. Here is some simple solutions to help you through this muscle strain.
Rest, most muscle pain will go away by itself soon enough, so just rest it and don't try to use the muscle until it's healed.
Ice can bring down the muscle inflammation, but if the pain is very bad use heat.
If the muscle pain should be in your legs, just make sure when you lie down to keep your feet higher than your heart, and the swelling will go down.
If you get cramps in your legs at night you might want to take a calcium supplement, since deficiency in that mineral can cause cramping. Also think about the amount of potassium you have, potassium can also cause muscle cramping.
Warm up before any exercise, if your muscles are sufficiently warmed up you greatly reduce the chance of injury. Also warm down after a workout, I find this to be effective in reducing stiffness the next day.
Eat Pineapple, pineapple contains the enzyme called bromelain which helps repair injured tissue. I wonder if pineapple on top of a pizza counts, hmmmm, well, maybe not.

Go see a reputable Chiropractor. Make sure you check him out first. Find some patients or ask other doctors in the area about him. Just make sure he's not a quack that will make you visit for weeks. I would say in most cases about 3 visits should clear up a neck stiffness problem. My father is a chiropractor and has helped me a ton of times. He always tells me about the crooked Dr.s in the area. It's very important you find a good one or he will cheat you or your insurance company out of your money. Stay away from Medical Dr.s for this. They will just treat the pain and not the source of the pain, so you could end up addicted to Hydrocodone or something.

When you have the neck pain, do you also have any pain in your shoulders or arms? If so you might want to get your family doc to refer you to an ortho doc. Get an MRI of your neck. You might have a slipped disk.

No high pillows, in fact, no pillows, no looking up the computer, it is no.1 cause, apply salt with oil, cannot translate the local oils, but perhaps a thick oil, not car oil, please:) keep three-four-five towels, small ones, they are the BEST things which can keep the neck in line with the bed, and no soft bed, hard bed, hard matress, almost like the ground, I said almost :) in a month or two, it will work wonders. thanks. anjum

Neck stretches work for me. Slowly lower you chin to your chest and count to ten. Tilt head sideways and hold for count of thirty, twice on each side. Don't tilt head backwards. It feels good but isn't good for the neck.

Get a memory foam contour pillow. They are kind of expensive, but they are worth the price. It will take a few nights of sleeping on it, but it will help.
