After the first few days of a cold, when you would expect it to get better, the blockage in your nose may worsen and the greenish discharge may increase. Later, because the passages between the nose and the sinuses also become blocked, the discharge may stop. Your nose then becomes more stuffed up than ever. You have to breath through your mouth, your speech becomes nasal, and you feel generally ill. If the frontal sinuses are affected, you may have a headache over one or both eyes. It is most painful when you wake up in the mourning, or when you bend your head down or forward. If the maxillary sinuses are affected, one or both cheeks may hurt. You may feel as if you have a toothache in your upper jaw.

I got sinus infections at least 2 or 3 times a year for many years. A good home remedy to relieve the pain and pressure is:
Take a hand towel or kitchen towel, get it damp, place it the the microwave for 35 to 40 seconds (the heat will be depend on your tolerance to heat.) Make sure you have it folded face size and place the hot towel on your entire face. It feels fabulous when you are in pain. Doing the same thing on the back of the neck is good also. The heat will seriously relieve the pressure. Your sinuses will release and drain freely. Sinus problems frequently begin with a change in barometric pressure. If a storm is coming I can feel the change in my sinuses. Repeat as needed.
Another interesting thing, when I began getting flu shots a few years I stopped getting severe sinus problems and also colds. So go figure!
Good Luck!!

Kind of a constant pressure and pain behind your eyes and nose. It can feel like you have a head full of mucus, but can't blow it out. Also, if you bend over, your head feels like it will pop right open.
Get to a doctor as soon as you can. The proper antibiotics will clear up the infection. If you let a sinus infection go too long, you can permanently damage the lining of your sinus cavities----that happened to my friend.

What kind of Queen of Mucous has never had a sinus infection?!? Yes, that's common, it's because your sinuses are draining down that back of your throat. Try drinking some peppermint tea with honey in it, that always helps me a lot when I have sinus issues.

I've had them frequently. My nose feels all stuffed up, there's pressure around my eyes and cheekbones. Sometimes even my teeth hurt from the pressure. If it's a real bad infection, I get a burning feeling inside my head. My face feels swollen and painful and my whole head feels heavy.

It feels like your face is going to explode; like a migrain, only your whole head; like Zeus must have felt just before Athena sprang forth from his forehead fully grown and wearing armor.
In other words, it hurts a great deal.

Like your head is going to explode from the pressure. Your eyes and teeth hurt and no matter what you do you can not relieve the pressure.

For me, the pain and pressure are primarily in the roof of my mouth. There is also irritation in the top back of my throat due to the dripping.
