No. No one can tell you what love is beyond a simplistic dictionary definition. But in truth you have to experience it for yourself. And it will be something different for you that what it is for someone else. It will even mean different things to you in different situations or over time. I love my wife but my love for her is different than what my love was for her when we first were married. I still love her just as much but it takes differnt forms. I love my son but not in the same way I love my wife, although I would do anything for either of them.
So if what your looking for is a dictionary definition then you will want to look in the dictionary. Otherwise if you really want to know what it is you will have to be willing to put yourself out there for others and then experience it for yourself. Oh and by the way be ready to get hurt because that does happen sometimes. It's part of the package deal that comes with love.
Best of Luck

yes, love is more than just an emotion. The bible saids God is Love.In order to understand real love you must understand and Know Jesus. There was a woman in jerusalem one day that had been in mutiple relations but it was only physical for men to use her body.Jesus meet her at a well and told her all she had ever did and explain to her his love and her whole life was changed. She came into contact with love itself. There are types of love such as friendship love, family love, and sexual which only should be in marriage according to Gods standings.Once someone truely understands the love of God and what Jesus done for the whole human race then will you begin to know the meaning of true love and Jesus will teach you how to love others and even yourself.Read and study the bible on this issue and pray and ask God and he will teach you for He is the teacher of all things. If you dont know Jesus as your Lord and saviour I pray you will realize we are all sinners and until we confess with our mouth and believe with our heart that Christ died and rose again and ask his forgiveness and accept it and believe then we real never know the depth of real love. Most people love on conditions but Christ loves unconditionally. There are other things I could say on this issue on LOVE but it would take alot of time and im getting ready to go and start my day,so i pray you will read the word of God and pray and find a good bible believing Pastor that can help and guide you and love you and what ever you are seeking for look to God first.God bless you friend and may the peace of God be with you always.Wefree7@yahoo.com

God is love.love is the act of never findin fault in others .Love is givin . love is caring.thouugh u give your body over to the flames to be burned, and yet you dont have the nature of lovin, you are nothin.thats the spiritual way.
now the worldly way,if you are in love, you should be submissive to your partner and he to you .there are still dangers of fallin into loveoutside marriage.not all boys love sincerely.there are those that are interested in jus the body an dwould act to love jus to get you into it.before acceptin love, wait and stop to think for a while thinkin optimistically as well as the negative way......all de best..

Love is an emotion. Most often lust is mistaken for love. Love is much deeper an emotion than most people could even imagine. To actually be able to describe love would be an opinion, because everybody views it a little differently.

"Finally we come to the kingdom of man. As this is the superior kingdom, the light of love is more resplendent. In man we find the power of attraction among the elements which compose his material body, plus the attraction which produces cellular admixture or power augmentative, plus the attraction which characterizes the sensibilities of the animal kingdom, but still beyond and above all these lower powers we discover in the being of man the attraction of heart, the susceptibilities and affinities which bind men together, enabling them to live and associate in friendship and solidarity. It is therefore evident that in the world of humanity the greatest king and sovereign is love. If love were extinguished, the power of attraction dispelled, the affinity of human hearts destroyed, the phenomena of human life would disappear."
(Abdu'l-Baha, Foundations of World Unity, p. 88)
Wish that you understand His words about love and apply them in your life.

Ask yourself right now...."Can I live without this person everyday not being in my life"? Stop and actually close your eyes and feel that. If you get a terrible feeling that you can't catch your breath then you are IN love...love is just being comfortable with each other in everything and all you do in life....you are NOT embarressed to say or do anything....there is no showing off or being someone your not...love is not trying to impress the other always...its just *being*.
When I fell inlove with my husband, I went to my mother who i could not talk guys to at all and asked her "How do I know I am inlove" and she said....."If you can FART in front of each other, then you are inlove" So, we must be terribly inlove with each other.
hahahahaha

Love is patient and kind, love doesn't envy. Love doesn't brag, is not proud, doesn't behave itself inappropriately, doesn't seek its own way, is not provoked, takes no account of evil; doesn't rejoice in unrigteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. (1 Corinthians 13: 4-7). If your love reflects all these attributes than your definitely in love! :)

If you find someone that makes you feel complete, the little thing you have been missing, that is a good sign. When you care about someone more than yourself and truely love the whole person. Lust is wanting someone. Love is truely needing someone.
