Since they are older dogs, they obviously know they are not supposed to be going in the house, so the fact that they are means that they must not be able to hold it as well anymore.
I would make sure to take your dogs out a lot more frequently, as I am sure they try to hold it but can't, and the more a dog tried to hold its urine for prolonged periods of time, the more likely it is to get a urinary tract infection.
There are a few medications a vet can prescribe in order to help a dog hold its urine for longer and more comfortably. I would invest in an exam and find out if any of these are right for you. At my office, we prescribe Proin more than anything else. But you should do anything or give any meds until you get a medical opinion on exactly what is going on.
Good luck! And don't despair!

OH, I am so sorry that your dogs are having this problem. You know, when we all get that age (in dog years=92) WE will have that problem too. All I can say is have Patience, take them out as often as you can. My mother's Peek-A-Poo had that problem, and he slept with her at night, and "leaked". She bought a couple of those felt backed plastic table cloths (cheap at walmart) and put that on the end of her bed where he slept cloth side up. It caught all the leaks, and she would just pop it in the washer, and then dried it out side (didn't take long to dry) But it's best to have several on hand so washing is down to a minimum.
Also talk to your vet. He may have something that will help. If you have to leave your dogs alone during the day, I would keep them where you don't have carpet, like in the kitchen, and just baby gate the doors. It sounds crazy, but make sure they always have plenty of water to keep their kidneys in good shape.
Good Luck, and just give them a lot of love.

My dog is 15 this year, and has started being incontinent at night, so I now have to take him outside before I go to bed, and then again at about 3.30 in the morning.
Fortunately he still come and wakes me up to let him out, but he still "leaks" a little occasionally despite this.
My vet has told me there is medication that will stop this, but I want to wait till it gets a bit worse, before I start on medication.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, that yes, your vet will have something that will help.....................

get them training pads for indoors. When you get old you will have the pleasure of the same thing happening to you. Older dogs will not go in the house unless they can't hold it. That is part of all life

The only thing I can think of is wearing a diaper. Or your vet should be able to give them some med to have better control of their muscle (to hold it in), but i think once you pass a certain stage, it's hard to control. Good luck,

If it's urine, my vet had my dog on phenylpropilanaine (sp?). It helped her a lot. And me too, as I didn't have to clean up as much.

I don't think so. They just can't hold their bowel anymore.
