I saw a picture of him a while back wearing what looked to be a Santa Cap and he looked a tad bit demonic... and to angry to be a man of God. That aside, I think he is a step back from John Paul. What do you think?

Well, my own thoughts on him are not positive... and as a non-practicing Catholic I don't think how I feel about him really matters. I am just curious about other views on him... Man of God or not.

Also a side note... the "red Outfit" was not an outfit as I had only seen a head shot of him in a Santa Hat... and it in that picture, there was not a trace of "having fun" to be found.
And as for me lightening up... I'm free of my Catholic prison... so imagine how light and happy I feel. I have found my own path to God... and the Pope, past or present, has nothing to do with it...

I think one should be very careful when judging a priest who has spent his entire life worshipping and studying God. Each pope is differend and gives something different to the church.

I'm a Catholic and I don't worship the pope. No Catholics do. We respectfully consider his opinion on a host of different faith matters. We assent to his opinion on matters of doctrine and dogma, so long as what he proposes is in agreement with scripture, and with all the other constant teachings and practices of the church.

Benedict XVI has so far been a truly excellent teacher and a sensitive chief administrator.

He's not flashy, and he's no John Paul II.

As to the red outfit, you may recall that the original Santa Claus was really a Catholic bishop by the name of St. Nicholas. Pope Benedict was simply having a bit of fun.

Lighten up a little, OK?

Looks are not always on the beam. You have to listen to what the guy says and does. Following a man leads to disappointment. Following God does not.
J2P2 was a good man. John Paul 1 was an honest man and see where it got him. (In God' s name by David Yallop if you need more information on this.) This is more a comment against Popery as a whole.

I'm not Catholic, so I don't care about the pope, I care about God. I'm not even sure what the pope does. I think you're supposed to confess your sins to him, or maybe that's just for the priest. I figure, why confess your sins to a priest or the pope when you can go straight to God. Besides, how many people do you want knowing your personal business.

I like Pope Benedict XVI.

Not as much as I liked Pope John Paul II, admittedly but, I do think he is a man of God.

I'm not Catholic but I always liked Pope John Paul II. He actively involved himself with ALL people of ALL religions, etc. He was truely a good man and a good example. This new pope is completely forgettable. I don't even know his name.

Well, what are you going to do? I personally would have preferred Cardinal Francis Arinze (the black Cardinal from Italy) because of his knowlege of canonical laws and his warm personality, but it wasn't my choice. I think Pope Benedict is really trying to soften up his image, and I am trying to give him a chance.

NO Hope in the Pope.
JESUS is the WAY the TRUTH and the LIFE.
The ONLY WAY to HEAVEN, is through JESUS.
If the Pope ain't SAVED, he ain't.
So sad, if Dad, ain't Glad, so sad........

I'm not Catholic, so I don't worship him or think he is "God on earth." I'm against worship of a human being.
