I think some do only because it is seen as Pagan. They used to burn children and such in the Old Testament. Notice there is NOWHERE that God says this is ok, but it is menioned only because it happend. Sort of like history.
Un Biblical? No where in the Bible does it say that it is wrong. In fact the Bible is very vague on this subject. However all those that were in 9/11 were cremated. So what aobut them? God is able to ressurect even them. We will be change anyway. We won't have the same body in Heaven as we do now.
I intend to be cremated. Some think it is a Pagan practice.
Some think the moon is made of green cheese too.
I don't.

Short answer: Because the bible is teaching nonsense in this regard.

Long(-ish) answer: Cremation is the best means of disposing of the physical remains of an individual as it is very hygenic and speeds up the process of returning the body to the cycle of nature considerably. Besides, it saves space.

The Vedas advocate cremation, therefore it is certainly not 'anti-religious'.

Because if you cremated yourself, that would be suicide, and I believe that is frowned upon in all religions except the really crazy people that think dying makes a point. More effective than living and actually finding a solution. OK. Whatever.

What chapter and verse did you find this unbiblical in the bible?
What I believe is that it is the spiritual body that God concern most and not the things on earth. So, fixed your attention not on things that are seen but on things that are unseen. What can be seen last only for a time. What cannot be seen last forever.

Because in the book of revelation it teaches how Jesus will come back to Earth and resurrect the dead and bring the living to him. Now the dead spirits will enter their old bodies in the earth and then again rise to the Lord. So some people think you cannot become one with your body if you burn it to ashes, But my belief is that if God created you, he can bring your ashes back together to make you again.

Thanks for asking and caring

You know, I don't understand that either. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust. Doesn't seem any different to me. Some Christians were burned at the stake, during the Spanish Inquision. God is all powerful. He can resurrect out of dust or ashes.

The origins of it started from a non christian man that wanted to make it so that people would not be raised from the dead at the resurrection.Of coarse though man is not more powerful than God and all people will be resurrected on judgment day

i know at least in teh jewish faith there are two reasons. the first being that your body was given to by g-d and should remain unchanged, it is not your to change g-d is loaning it to u. the second being that in the time of the messiah the dead will rise again that will be the form in which they died in so if you are creamated you will have a tough time doing that.

I was unaware of anything in the Bible against cremation.

Like the other person said--maybe they think God can raise dust but not ashes.
