John Lennon,"God is a concept by which we measure our pain"...yeah,when the exemplary become "idols", they become as effective at "betterring" us as statues .. that is dead and vacant ..
re:musicisme:..study some Hebrew before parroting such tripe..the "yod" letter can be "j" or "i" or "y" ...Hebrew does not mirror the English alphabet so "y" being added last to English means nothing..."Pronunciation" variations in Hebrew from more Northern European Jews(Akthanisthka)..to more Southern Jews (Sephardhic)...make for the primary differences in pronouncing the first letter of the name ..Now replacing the middle letter of "s" from the Hebrew "samech" to the "shin"...It was a little naming mystical trick that a Middle Ages Gentile Qabalist made up...and this "yeshuah" pronunciation has no basis in reality,or conventions of Hebrew at all...so very likely "jesus"..or "iesus" or "yesus" was the pronunciation in that time...but I do see you parroting what Evangelists absorbed and embellished to legendation.though completely devoid of Hebrew alphabet insight...and entirely based on a much later contemplative exercise that replaced the "s" with the fiery "shin" letter...but call him whatever you like-just leave out the "feigned" scholastics because they are wrong ..
citing St James is supposed to prove your false naming anomaly?..New Testament has no prior Hebrew form ?...
re:BritEyz above .. again...parroting the same made up tripe .. sorry but Joshua was Joshua ... The Tetragrammaton of JHVH was once thought as being violated, when anyone attempted pronouncing it(people were executed for it).. So attempting "Jehovah", and "Yahweh" were and are all violations of that tradition... and again the mideival tripe of inserting the "shin" glyph within Tetragrammaton(yod he vav he).. to recreate jesus(which was his name-if indeed he existed) as "yeshuah"...and parroting some "false scholarship" to give it an "embelleished" realism .. wrong again ..
Maybe "Caesar's" name was "Barney"?The plausibility would be the same as what you are attempting in faked philology .. and ignorance of history ..

Jesus is the Son of God and He should be the Idol of Man also. See Jesus is not a Idol but the ONLY Idol. Jesus is the only Idol we are supposed to have. Since Jesus is God the Son and God is the only allowable Idol then Jesus should be every man's idol.

The name and title of the Son of God from the time of his anointing while on earth.
The name Jesus corresponds to the Hebrew name Jeshua (or, in fuller form, Jehoshua), meaning “Jehovah Is Salvation.” The name itself was not unusual, many men being so named in that period. For this reason persons often added further identification, saying, “Jesus the Nazarene.” (Mr 10:47; Ac 2:22) Christ is from the Greek Khri·stos′, the equivalent of the Hebrew Ma·shi′ach (Messiah), and means “Anointed One.” Whereas the expression “anointed one” was properly applied to others before Jesus, such as Moses, Aaron, and David (Heb 11:24-26; Le 4:3; 8:12; 2Sa 22:51), the position, office, or service to which these were anointed only prefigured the superior position, office, and service of Jesus Christ. Jesus is therefore preeminently and uniquely “the Christ, the Son of the living God.”—Mt 16:16;
If you believe in the Bible, you will believe what it says regarding Jesus in that he is God's son. If you do not believe in the Bible, then one must look to an alternate source for proof of his existence such as world historians (i.e. Josephus who acknowledged Jesus' existence and the miracles he'd performed). You can see by the calendar the entire world follows that it's based on Jesus' arrival into the scene of this world. And even the simple fact that we do not offer sacrifices in connection with our sins any longer is proof that there has been a "new" covenant established between god and people and Jesus instituted that new convenant at the Lord's Evening Meal.
Granted, the world tends to idolize him when he himself did not even want somone kneeling before him. He said only GOD gets the worship and we should remember that today when deciding what and how to worship. I think too many place the emphasis on Jesus and not on his Father... God the creator (Jehovah as he's announced his name in the Bible).
If you were merely asking of his existence, he did exist. If you were questioning his relationship with God, he himself said he was God's son and God said at his baptism that Jesus was his son. There should be no question.
As to who is more powerful, Jesus said all authority had been given him BY GOD and that only GOD knew the day/hour of Armageddon, that he nor the other angels knew. When asked for privileged positions in heaven, he told his disciples that this was not something he was to decide, but that GOD would decide this. Apparently, they were not equal.

God the eternal Son became incarnate in Jesus Christ. Through Him all things were created, the character of God is revealed, the salvation of humanity is accomplished, and the world is judged. Forever truly God, He became also truly man, Jesus the Christ. He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He lived and experienced temptation as a human being, but perfectly exemplified the righteousness and love of God. By His miracles He manifested God's power and was attested as God's promised Messiah. He suffered and died voluntarily on the cross for our sins and in our place, was raised from the dead, and ascended to minister in the heavenly sanctuary in our behalf. He will come again in glory for the final deliverance of His people and the restoration of all things. (John 1:1-3, 14; Col. 1:15-19; John 10:30; 14:9; Rom. 6:23; 2 Cor. 5:17-19; John 5:22; Luke 1:35; Phil. 2:5-11; Heb. 2:9-18; 1 Cor. 15:3, 4; Heb. 8:1, 2; John 14:1-3.)

Sorry, Sara, but Jesus Christ, is the only begotten Son of God, the only one whom God ever said, "This is my son in whom I am well pleased." The only one whom Christ ever claimed God to be his father. He's not an idol - that would be anything that someone gives greater diligence to than Jesus Christ.
Now, for some people Jesus Christ may not be anymore than an idol as they may not have a faith believing relationship with Jesus Christ, he may be a statue they bow to and believe that's going to do something for them. It isn't. The relationship by faith that he is who he says he is and that God sent him for the purpose to be the sacrifice for the wages of sin, which is eternal separation from God, is the only Jesus Christ that has any power over all the principalities and dominions of earth - and that's the one we seek and serve and align our heart too.

No. An idol has no life. Jesus is alive and is God, as well as the Son of God.

If we start off wrong we end up wrong. The man's name wasn't even Jesus, it was Yahshua or Yeshua. No J in the Hebrew, Greek, or Latin language to this day and was the last letter added to the English alphabet. The man that walked the Earth plain at that time was called Yahshua which means "YAHWEH is Salvation". And yes, he was God in the sonship degree. That is why he is called son of man. Mankind has made the Messiah out to be something to follow in the footsteps of and we can't do that because he came to fulfill what is written of him in the law & prophets.

You are wrong!
Acts 3:26 Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities.
I will pray for you.
