Is there software which can tell me what I need and don’t need and make memory available for better things?

You can go to www.filehippo.com and they have free Microsoft sanctioned tools that will get rid of unneccessary cookies, files you haven't accesed in ages, programs that appear to be obsolte. ANd they won't do it without your consent. it will go through all of the drives andprograms and everything then spit out a report showing everything that appears to be unneccessary - It will also warn you if something COULD be tied to something you might want to keep. Pretty cool. One program is Ad-aware which the microsoft guy I called to help me swore by. It was good not great...Let me go look I'll be right back

go to run type in msconfig at the top far right is a bar with start up: press that and untick all the programs you dont want to run at start up. then reboot. job done. these programs will only run when you want them to, and not in the background.

It sounds nasty, but "Black Viper" (link below) is awesome to see what services you need, and which ones you don't. I've used it and believe in his recommendations 100%
