My husband has green eyes and I have light brown eyes. Almost everyone in his family (parents, brother, uncles) have green/blue eyes. My family, on the other hand, have mostly brown eyes (except for my father`s mother who had grey eyes). What are the odds of my future baby having green eyes like his father?

I'm not sure how much a punnett square is going to help you. A punnett square is four squares put together to make one large box that gives you an idea of your offspring's genotype. It's hard to explain. If you want an in-depth answer go to this website I posted. The chances of your child having light eyes are slimmer than dark because light eyes (blue/green) are a recessive trait and dark eyes (brown/black) are dominant. Because someone in your family had light eyes, you may have the recessive trait that will give your child light eyes.

How many people in your family have green eyes?
0 = small chance of green eyes, like 10% or something
2-3 = moderate chance, like 10-30%
If lots and lots, then up to 50%

Enjoy.
