I feel sorry for the baby. The baby has no choice in the matter. You can't really say much to them because they're pretty adamant about their religion - and I don't think going back to them time after time is going to make them change their mind. Maybe - after they see how their child will suffer only then will they realize that it shouldn't matter which doctor they go to.. or, if there are any muslim doctors you know off the top of you head you could recommend them. Unfortunately, since they live in Australia along with you, they really have to come to the realization that not all people are muslim and that they have to accept this. It was their decision to immigrate to Australia, so they should at least be familiar with the customs and culture of the country they're living in (although I'm not saying they should forget their own.)

You are speaking about an Iraqi family and not just a Muslim family and there are many different types of people who claim to be Muslim.
False translation of the Quran has set the Middle Eastern Muslims against "Jews" when "Jews" do not actually exist in the Quran, nor in the Hadith, since the same illogic can be used to translate the word they use for Christian to also say Jew, and both words describe Children of Israel, who were Yahuudi and Nazaaraa, or Penitents and Helpers.
Hatred for Jews may have intensified because of the state of Israel, which was created by the Super Powers of the recent past, and which is being used today to try to wipe Muslims off the face of the Earth.
When USA invades Iraq and destroys the people and set them back 100 years and pretends to be helping them get rid of a dictator, the Iraqi people see this as being done by the Jews, and this is only the way I see it.
Islam permits the consumption of pork if it is done to save life, which is to say that Islam values life above hatred and above race, as long as it is not done in disobedience but of necessity.
If the Muslim family, or the Iraqi family, does not value the life of their own child and would rather see him die than be attended to by a "Jew" then that does not say much about their Islam.
This family is being tested on their faith and they have failed and are putting hatred before their child.
If they must hate the Jew then they must hate the Christian as much but Muslims are astray and there is no way that you can get them to reason, even if you put the Quran before their very noses.
What can you say to people who have the truth and will not see the truth?

That's weird! Well try to convince them that their son's life is alot more important than silly things like that. Or maybe direct them to another doctor? Anything to save that lil baby's life!! Tell them that Prophet Mohamed (PBUH) treated Jews and Christians very well and that they should do the same.
Or heay tell them about the story of the Prophet visiting a Jewish man who was sick. This Jewish man used to block the Prophet's way by putting rocks in his path, but one day the Prophet went out and found no rocks on his path so he asked people about the Jew guy and people told him he was sick, so the Prophet went to the Jewish guy's home to make sure he was alright and they became friends after that. It's a true story and they should be tolerant as their Prophet.

It is always a sad thing when prejucide, ignorance, and stubbornness combine. To risk the life of their child for the sake of thier faith is a frightfully selfish thing to do, on thier part. But oviously they've made the choice as to which of the two is more important to them. I don't know if there's much you can say that would open their eyes and minds. They sound prideful of their own prejudice, which is often the case.
It's nice that you want to help, that you care, but they might not be open to allowing that to happen. Helping them see beyond the blinders of their bigotry is a BIG project that might take more than you're able to invest, and will most likely require a lot more time than their child can safely afford. Good Luck.

Islam doesnt say a Jewish cannot cure a Muslim or vice-versa. They are being over whelmed about whats going on in all over the world with Muslims and probably are being stubborn. But maybe u can try convincing them that it is no fault of their new born to bear this suffering.

Tell them that religion doesn't matter. I'm a Muslim, but I guess, those from the M-E are stubborn for they bore/bear the brunt of war from US and Israel.
But tell them that their kid's life is more important than anything else.
You can also seek help from the local mosque around your area. Explain the situation and hopefully, the mosque authorities can help them change their minds.

In Islam, all is on keeping yourself healthy..Alchol is forbidden to keep yourself healthy..Even Namaz; muslims pray is for health..so the most important thing is the health in Islam. So to keep it safe and to keep yourself healty, theres no problem with the doctors religion or sex..some of female muslims dont let the male doctors for inspection..its the same as with this problem..

Why bother? It's futile to erase prejudice and blind ignorance; they can check out other neurologists. This sort of mindset is the main reason for the hate culture in the MidEast - backward people.
