i don't think you should try to wow them with "things" or "events". spend as much time with them, talk to them, play ball, what are they into? they need your attention, not bells and whistles..

I am a father of three and as 2 of them are teenagers i do different things with them all on different days. My youngest is 8 and even though I spend most of the day with him we still do loads of stuff we considered fun. Some of those things are; visit local park for a kick about, fly kites, playground, museums, planetarium, zoo, adventure playgrounds and even just playing board games in the house. Ask your kids what they want to do. remember your children have their own lives and you,ve just come back in to them. they ma have there own ideas about what is fun.

1. Talk & Listen to them. Ask them questions about school & friends (shows an interest). Take them something from your barge to show them what it is like and stories of your day out there.
2. Build something with them, model car, speed racer, some home kit. It'll give them something to look at & remember you when you're gone again.
3. Give them something to make them feel like they are growing up and can handle more responsibility something you'd normally give a grown up, jsut not totally out-of-line. (e.g. wallet, or musical instrument, or a tie to wear on a shirt ). It'll give them a feeling that you are thinking of their future.

Camping and fishing is very good for bonding for father-son. If you have the money, head to Disney World in Florida. Boys that age will think that real cool.

Take them to Disney World.
Can't get bigger then that for a kid for something *awesome.*
I think one on one time would be the best, with no distractions.
Something where you can interact...
Like taking them to the park to play baseball together, or at least toss the ball around and catch.
Nothing like Dad hanging out playing baseball.
Have fun and Congratz! :)

take them to a pro baseball game (minor leagues work too) bring a baseball for them to get signed and arrive as soon as the gates open. players will sign during batting practice. my boys have more fun before the game even starts just meeting the players.
make sure the kids are polite when asking "mr. so in so,, please sign my baseball?..." they'll meet more players this way.

ask them what they would like to do that you would also find fun , but it has to be more fun for them , maybe you could buy them $100 of candy or something big , or take them somewhere special that they would enjoy.
