Apple iBook G3...Upgrading the operating system?

I bought a G3 (The little 12 inch white one) awhile back, and I mean a long while....It's still in the box! Anyway, how do I upgrade the OS? I have no idea what version it already has. I want to say 10.1 but not sure...

Please help me!

To upgrade the OS, you ahve to go out and buy the OS that you wish to upgrade to, the most recent is 10.4. Then follow the instructions on that. It'll be about $150 to buy software.
