How is acne treated?
To help control acne, keep your skin clean. Avoid skin products that clog your pores. Look for products that say “noncomedogenic” on the label. Wash your skin once or twice a day with a gentle soap or acne wash. Try not to scrub or pick at your pimples. This can make them worse and can cause scars.
For a few pimples, you can get an acne cream without a prescription. Look for one that has benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid. These work best when used just the way the label says.
It can take time to get acne under control. Keep using the same treatment for 6 to 8 weeks. You may even notice that it gets worse before it gets better. If your skin is not better after 8 weeks, try another product.
If your pimples are really bothering you or are scarring your skin, see your doctor. A prescription gel or cream for your skin may be all you need. Your doctor may also order antibiotic pills. A mix of treatments may work best. If you are female, taking certain birth control pills may help.
If you have acne cysts, talk to your doctor about stronger medicine. Isotretinoin (such as Accutane) works very well, but it can cause depression, birth defects, or high cholesterol. Let your doctor know if you have had depression before taking this medicine. And if you are female, you must protect against pregnancy by using two forms of birth control. Even one dose of this medicine can cause birth defects if a woman takes it while she is pregnant.

The cheapest fast safest way I know is Witch Hazel. It is a clear liquid in the pharmacy department just wet a cotton ball and apply to your clean skin once or twice a day. It is like $1 a bottle and lasts for ever. An old lady told me about it when I was a teenagers and I have passed the info on to lots of friends and so far it has worked for everyone. It is also safe and natural so no harse chemicals on your skin.

Welll IN MY OPINION I would say for my skin neutrogena [spelling?] is good.. People say that it makes their skin very dry so I'm not sure because people have different types of skin but after I wash my face with a neutrogena acne product i use a neutrogena acne cream (day and night) it works :) also made my skin colour one colour and reduced the redness :) BTW proative did NOT work for me haha waste of money =__=;; i got more breakouts Oh yeah and yes Clearasil is good too :) There was another acne product that i don't know the name of i think it was Clean and Clear but that was also good it gave me a really fresh tingly feel after the wash :)

i took my son to our doctor and requested a strong but not too strong medicated prescription roll on acne med for him, the doctor gave him 2 actually ,but the other roll on made his skin hurt a little. so just because one works for some doesn't mean it will work for u. You have to try a couple diff. ones what the doctor gives u and see what works on your skin. Keep at it and washing it a few times a day with soap and water is great. Also junk food, caffeine, chocolate, marajuana will make your problem worse...(just to let ya know!! lol) Good Luck
