It's goose liver pate.

The best comes from Strassbourg in France.

It tastes creamy and is best eaten with toast and a glass of Madeira wine (Sweet wine).

The saying 'Stuffed like a Strassbourg goose' comes from the fact that they over feed the geese to make their livers larger.
(Sad but true).

It tastes ok if you like food such as Pate on toast. A little oily on the palate, but very smooth. However dont agree with how its made at all, and I tried without knowing what it was first at an expensive wedding I attended.
Give it a try if you wish, once its on toast it looks fine. Now as for caviar.....

It's a nice meaty pate, I would prefer it on toast, but I won't eat it now because of how it's made. They do overfeed them to fatten the liver, and I've been told they sometimes do this by nailing them in place through the feet, and putting a pipe down their throats. *Some* of the French are savages when it comes to treatment of livestock.

Very rich goose liver pate. I find it too rich, and the way they make it by forcibly overfeeding the geese is disgusting and cruel, which removes any lingering appeal the food itself had for me.

Its a Liver Pate.

It's very rich and has a strong flavour.

Have it on toast. It's lovely as a starter.
