Newcastle ALWAYS it's a great city and the people, nightlife and shopping are second to none. Leeds is pretty good too but I would always choose Newcastle even before London. Give yourself a treat and be a geordie for the weekend. I'm Scottish by the way so I'm not being biased.

Well statistically Newcastle is hit more by crime but Leeds isn't fantastic either!
Personally from quick stays whilst looking around Universities (i.e. I went looking at the Cities as well!) I prefer Leeds but I didn't stay in either long enough to make the judgement

Newcastle - top night out and apparently the girls there average more one night stands than those in any other British city!
Leeds isn't bad either though - treat yourself and visit both (but take jumpers with you!)
