My great grand father was a Jew (non religious) and now I am not officially Jewish (mother is non-jew). I am a Christian but I always felt a fascination about the Jewish way of life. I know we aren;t bound by rituals etc. But I feel a more in depth understanding of the Jewish culture would enrich my spiritual life. I heard about Messianic Jews but would like to know what's different in their way of worship and service before the Lord. I have a lot of good and bad experiences in the Evangelical / Pentecostal Churches. Good - because of God / Bad - because I've seen some ministries shifting from serving the brothers and sisters by serving themselves and am looking for a goo church. I live in the North East of England

I believe that the Messianic Jews, though I haven't studied them at length are the remnant as told in prophecy. The closest on the other side would be maybe a sector of Christianity in the Seventh Day Adventists sabbatarian practices. I believe that we are emplored to keep the commandments while at the same time knowing we can not do so fully we have our salvation through the all atoning blood of Jesus Christ. I've had some bad experiences as well with evangelical and neo-evangelistic churches who conform to much to the world and water down the message of the Word of God in order to tickle the ears and increase memberships to the mega-congregationalists. Its sorta like a quantity verses quality scenario. That's the way it is becoming in America...you get them there and keep them there but there is no spiritual preperation for the catastrophy of the end times. Alot of the church is still going to be trying to fuel the lamps when the Bride Groom shows up for the wedding, parabolically speaking. Jesus teaches us to pray for our daily bread and that means to be in our Bibles every day in order to be fully and satisfied...not this hand fed tidbits that leave the untold numbers of believers starving for true understanding. I'm looking for a "good" church too..one that is based biblically and spiritually soley on the Word of God and while I am not Seventh Day Adventist..I do believe these people have somewhat stumbled clumsily on the truth and they cling to it which I admire even up to keeping the various food laws and such. They believe that God loves us is a given however, we are called to love Him back and Jesus in doing so..keep His commandments. Keep praying and studying..you may just as well be doing the will of God in being His church. We are all believers and the body of Christ...you are His temple and that does not require you to sit in a building for a half hour sermon on how to get along better with your co-workers or find financial freedom. Its all about loving your neighbor..so maybe get involved in some community service volunteer work or something. Tything that time as well as your dime...oh you bet...hands and feet of Christ. Love in Christ, ~J~ <><

well first off you are looking at conversion to judaism please please do not go anywhere near a messianic synogogue. they are not jewish. they believe in jesus hence not jewish. if you are just looking to enhance your jewish knowledge go pick up a copy of the tanak (jewish bible) this includes the torah the prophets and the writings. also take a look at the talmud basically commentary on the torah. or try attending some services at a local synogogue but keep in mind they are all different be aware of what sect the synogogue is. no matter what sect they are i have never been to one that was not very receptive of new commers.
