RAKHI or RAKSHASBANDHAN is on wednesday the 9th of August this year. It is celebrated on the full moon day in the month of 'Shravan' (usually monsoon season). Bramhins change their ceremonial sacred threads which they wear on this day and sisters tie silk threads on the wrists of their brothers and pray for the brother's well being, while the brothers vouch for the safety and security of their sisters.
