No. Don't believe it. It's just an excuse given by heavy set people as an excuse to continue smoking. Their claim is that if they quit smoking, the time they would have used to smoke will then be used to eat and they will gain weight. It's not true.
Also, when you buy tobacco products (cigarettes) you are paying someone to give you a chance to suffer from lung cancer, heart disease, etc., but there are no guarantees. It's sort of like playing the lotto but the possible rewards are different. With the lotto, you might get money; with cigarettes, you might get a disease. But, as I said, there are no guarantees. Some people who play the lotto never win money from it, and some people who smoke don't die from a smoking related disease.

That is false. Smoking cannot help you to lose weight. Smoking is so addictive that you will crave it, instead of putting extra food snacks in your mouth you put a cigarette. However some people normally don't lose weight but they maintain their current weight because they are eating the same three meals that they was eating before, they just snack less.

I am biology student and have learned about nicotine and it's effects on the body. When you smoke cigarettes you raise your metabolism and could potentially burn up to 200 more calories a day. Unfortunately your body becomes used to this increase with in about 6 months of smoking and you will go back to your set point weight. so yes intially smoking will cause a decrease in weight.

Yes, it suppresses the appetite so instead of eating, you have a cigarette, thus losing weight in the long run from not eating.

Smoking lowers a hormone in your body, don't know the name. But this reduction will cause you to require less food. But don't smoke, it'll kill you faster than being overweight...

Yes, they say smoking increases your metabolism.
Personally though, it's a bad trade-off. You may lose fat but you lose your lungs as well.
