I would like to go to Scotland for New Year. I have enquired how much it would cost to fly from Staffordshire to Inverness and i was told £132 return.
Is there anyone out there can think of any cheaper ways of travel i.e. companies that will do it cheaper.
I was told that it costs so much cause of the taxes in the UK?

Well if you have the time and you are fit enough you could organise a sponsored walk, if you start now you might make it for December. Why Scotland anyway - their celebration of the New Year is mostly urban myth, as I can testify having lived here for 30 years. The English celebrate New Year far better! Taxes in the United Kingdom (there is a clue in the title of our country) are uniform throughout the Kingdom!

try easyjet or flybe - they may get you to Glasgow cheaper and then you could hire a car or train to inverness. Train all the way would probably be very expensive. What about buses - national express - it may take forever but might be more economical.

I disagree with raymo. I love the way we celebrate the new year coming in. Especially in Edinburgh, traditional music and performances, fireworks, auld lang syne. Anyway, I would suggest maybe looking up easyjet and other flight information, I think the train might be too expensive.
