Yes I agree.. it gives kids hope, and something nice to believe in for a change.. instead of all those scary stories.

Perhaps its because the little children of the developed nations of the world aren't in need of that becon of false hope that is a profusive lie. Fairytales are all good and well but we don't stoke the fires of our childrens greed by creating impractical fiction tauted as the truth only to the pull the rug out from beneath them at a later date deemed suitable based on their age. That's just stupid. Ask all the other some 3/4ths of the worlds population of children why Santa never visits them..hardly any of them even know who the hell he his and there is your answer. How can Santa make a starving child in Uganda or Sudan happy? Does Santa bring in an engineering crew to dig a fresh water well for that childs village or bags of rice, dry milk crates, formula and medicine? No...christians and other world charity organizations do that and bring with them also the Word of God which is the hope of all of nations in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Why do you assume that the children in the more privaledged nations need some fabricated lie in order to restore hope? Hope in what? Striking the mother lode under the tree on Christmas morning? If you want your children to be happy, teach them to give and to love and to be with their families and to be thankful for what they have. Love in Christ, ~J~ <><

What are you guys talking about? I'm not even really a Christian (I believe in a higher power but have never gone to church regularly) and I know Santa is real. How dare you doubt his existence - no wonder you have to give each other presents and don't get any from Santa!!!

It's a false hope. Children will be just as happy if you don't tell them that there's a Santa Claus, but still give them Christmas presents.

I didn't know everyone has lost hope. I haven't. There is nothing wrong with Santa Claus. The problem I see is kids not knowing the real meaning of Christmas.

People criticize Santa Claus mostly because he and the folklore surrounding him (Kris Kringle) has largely been turned into a commercial venture.

I would suggest, instead, that we not wait for a specific day of the year to be nice to each other. Try walking up to someone tomorrow, wish them a merry christmas and do something for them.

I am a christian and I don't like the idea of Santa. Kids don't care as long as they get presents. I told mine that they get gifts in remembrance of the Gift of life Jesus gave to us. Really I think the truth works much better than Santa..

Everyone needs hope be they christian or non-christian. Santa is an imaginary person who as good as people want him to be. He is only part off the christian festival of ChristS mass (christmas) because different cultures celebrated them at the same time. It is christ who gives people hope if you are a christian

I don't know about beautiful, but you just ruined Christmas for me. I always thought Santa was a real person. No, you ruined my entire life! I'm 30 years old and have no reason to live now!
