I cycle to work and back - 100 miles a week, flat terrain, average to low speed. I am 30 y. old and have been cycling this much on and off for the last 5 years. I also swim twice a week. I have no health problems except of old knee injury (10 years ago) but is healed now and it doesn't hurt (only on the rare occasions while snowboarding) Do you think I cycle too much? Am I putting my health in danger? How much cycling would be too much?
I cycle this much because I like it, I wouldn't like to cut down.

Keeping active is important. 100 miles/week at a reasonable pace sounds reasonable to me. You also mix it up with swimming, snowboarding so this type of cross-training is great for working other muscles and keeping them strong. As long as you eat well, including proteins for your muscles, keep riding. Sometimes a repetition strain may result so listen to your body and heed any warning signs.

That comes to about 10 miles to work each day and then back again 5 days a week. So 2 periods of fairly mild cardio per day. I am doing about the same, though mine is mostly up hill in the morning and mostly downhill in the evening. (Better than the other way around!)

No, this is a good amount of exercise. It is also an advantage to your wallet with today's high gas prices! Throw a little bit of weightlifting in during your lunch hour and you have a complete health program.

Your doing perfect, especially since your doing average to low speeds your using carbohydrates and fat as your sources of energy and not your muscle glycogen which takes away protein needed for your muscles. My dad is 52 and has been cycling to and from work half his life and is in excellent physical condition.
