Why havent there been any prophets recently?

Serious question. Why are there no new prophets? Is it because in this day and age, they would be ridiculed or is it just because the so called believers wouldnt know a prophet if they slapped them with a bit of fish?

Your question is excellent, my congratulations. The prophets are not there because there were never there. We, the humans, make the people, the ordinary people of our personal choice - prophets by the passage of time. We just cannot say, who would be considered prophet after 500 years from now, it could be Bush or Bin Laden, it could be you or me, if could be those who are killing in the name of God, it could be those who are international soldiers who are stationed in those countries risking their lives where life has not value and meaning. Nothing can be said about that.

But dont you think that we dont need prophets any more? Dont you think that the present state of the world, this terrorism, this sickness in the society, these murderers, politicians with ulterior motives, these disparties in the society are all the creations of all such prophets? If there is one God, dont you think there could be only one prophet, one religion and no problems around?

Nothing can be done. Only one thing from myself, never think of any more prophets rather we human beings with clear heads and love and compassion for society are enough to make this world more beautiful and liveable.

There have been many - in fact, Sai Baba of India is considered a prophet by a few followers.

The thing is that people are more intelligent now and know answers to most things that people with extraordinary powers can do. During the time that people couldn't answer they started worshiping these people with power - that's how Jesus and the crowed got recognized - even they were unaware of how they got these powers - What they assumed is what there followers believe to date !

Time to upgrade some people !

Mostly because people believe in profits, not prophets. Taking anyone seriously as a prophet would be so bad for business...

i believe there have been many but we don't recognise these people as prophets any more , not many take notice ... just a handful of followers and the rest of the world would call them crazy
its quite sad really that the moment anyone talks sense , or sees things that others would deem a little strange , instead of listening to them and the words they bring .... we either ignore them or cart them off to a mental institution

Isn't the word of God a wonder? It has an answer for every question have ever heard including yours.. The writer to the Hebrews said:

Heb.1:1-2
God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;

The current age is too deeply rooted in materialism and inability to raise consciousness to a higher vibratory level. This is the scientific age where everything inclusive of God is put under the eyes of a microscope and tested for validity. This is the age of the human who thinks that the world projected by his 5 senses is reality.

When we humans are able to transcend these limitations and widen our belief and perspective, will be able to perceive that we are all surrounded by millions of beings who bring us peace and light.

Actually, there are lots of guys running around calling themselves prophets. They will usually be found in non-denominational charismatic church rallys. Whether or not these men (and women) can be trusted to really hear from God or not, is another matter.

Acts 2:17-20 "And in the last days," God says, "I shall pour out some of my spirit upon every sort of flesh, and your sons and your daughters will prophesy and your young men will see visions and your old men will dream dreams, and even upon my men slaves and upon my women slaves I will pour out some of my spirit in those days, and they will *prophesy.* And I (GOD/YHWH) will give portents in heaven above and signs on earth below, blood, fire, and smoke mist, the sun will be turned into darkness and the moon to blood before the great and illustrious day of YHWH/Jehovah arrives.

Apparently the sun turning to darkness and the moon to blood, is the great tribulation, the beginning of judgment, (1Peter 4:17) on the house of God. Blood will be spilled in the day on one side of the earth, and at night time on the other side. (2Thessalonians2:1-8)

Revelation 11:10 And those dwelling on the earth rejoice over them and send gifts to one another, because these *two prophets* tormented those dwelling on the earth.
