They are intelligent enough to understand that cats are smarter...
Actually not sure the statement: "Most dogs dislike cats" is entirely accurate... assuming we're talking "pets" then I'd disagree. Based on pets in my home over the years it would be more accurate to say that dogs don't especially dislike cats... but can be trained to be mistrusting of any other animal.

Well actually it is not dogs do not like cats, give u a example, when u put a puppy and a kitten togehter, do they fight no, it is when adult dogs meet a adult cat, the cat will hiss and spit at the dog which to a dog means the cat is provoking the dog, so when people provoke you, would you get angry and may want to fight back? Hence dogs are inquistive and they would like to smell everything, but when a cat sees a dog, (do the maths on the size ratio) you get the picture? well l used to own a pet shop and l have been working with dogs for many years. hope that helps

If a dog is exposed to cats from a young age, it does not dislike them. Dogs have instinct to chase. But people from early on, train their pets as to what is acceptable behavior. I have had dogs and cats live together and be the best of play buddies. We have to teach our pets.

Its not a matter of the dog not likeing cats. It is more to do with the fact that cats RUN, and dogs LOVE to chase, it is in their nature. Most dogs look at it as a form of play.. Now if the hurt or kill tht then they should be watched carefully. If a cat is in my back yard, I am kewl with my dogs chasing them away.. i am sick of stray cats crapping all ver my property!

Because they are prejudice my friend. Dogs need to stop being ignorant and stop hating cats just because they're different. It's wrong. Cats come from a rich cultural heritage and dogs just need to to respect that. I overheard these two dogs the other day telling offensive jokes about cats, and I'm all like "hey, cats come from a rich cultural heritage, ya know, and you dogs need to respect that." And then they be all like "what do you mean YOU dogs?" And I'm like "I don't mean YOU dogs, I just mean you dogs". Then they try to turn it around on me. One of them is like " do you mean YOU dogs like german shephards?" And I"m like "no, I got nothing against german shephards" So then the other one is like "so what about irish wolfhounds?" so then I'm like " I got nothing against your breed either". It was crazy, I tell ya. Anywho, my point is the ignorance has got to stop. That's all I'm saying. I hope I didn't offend any dogs. I just want you to know that I know that not all dogs are prejudice towards cats.

Most dogs can live together with cats, provided that they're properly introduced & socialized. Dogs by nature like to chase anything that moves. & they like to chase animals more submissive than themselves. So they'll also chase other dogs around.

My dog likes cats and is very curious about them.
What he doesn't like is being attacked for his curiosity. Seems it's the cats that don't like him.
