Because you don't want to believe that the person you love has found another love with another person, but not you. And if you really love this someone, you'll be hurt for a very long time. For example : I lost my REAL love 5 years ago, now I have another relationship and you now what - I still feel pain when I see him with someone else, because I still love him.
But my advice is - don't show this someone that you're hurt. If this person loved you for real, would comes back to you. And if this happen you'll be happy again. Just wait and hope.

Because in loving someone you want to be able to provide their every emotional need even though it is virtually impossible to do, yet you still want to be able to. When you see them happy with someone else you not only feel the loss, but experience the reality that someone else meets those needs better than you, making you realize your inadequacies and short comings.....at least in their eyes!

The sight of their happiness is a reminder of what you feel you should have. When you compare what you should have to what you currently have, it feels like loss. Losing hurts.
