Because the Jews are Gods chosen people. But they, nor could any human, keep the law of God. So He sent Jesus as a sacrifice for thier sins. But they rejected Him. There is a parable Jesus tells about a feat. The feast was prepared but none of the ones who where invited would come, so the prepares sent his servant and said go out into the hedges and by ways and compel all to come. When God looks at us He sees the Jews, the Church (those who are saved) and the Gentiles (those who are not saved). Thank God He gave the invitation to the Gentiles!

God had to pick a bloodline for the messiah. from the group that was available, that is who he picked.... remember he started out with just one person , abraham....and his descendents...at the time abraham was picked , i guess you could say he was a "gentile" too.....the jewish nation descended form him...
