i dont want to play catholic i want to show my religion outright and be myself but she freaked at the mention of ANY of her children converting

tell her why u like buddhism and decided to convert it. I'm sure u did that becoz u gain some good advice or ideas that effect your life. If u can explain well that u've chosen yr good way, i don't think she will reject as a mother who always wanna see u to be fine.

tell her abt the buddhism and sayings of buddha .may be she like it and take her to some famous temple of buddha and then talk with her that you r very much inspired from buddhism and will convert one day. and then inform her after few days that u have converted to buddhism

Don't! You can play catholic and still be a buddhist. Buddhism is cool like that.

interestingly enough many nun,s incorporate a lot of the Buddhist teachings into their spirituality. perhaps instead of announcing to her at this time, just practice your beliefs and the answer will come!

just tell her, if she really cares shell accept ur own personal beleifs, and if she doesnt, point out the errors in the bible lol, theres lots of them.
