My little brother just hit the ripe old age of 10 and wandered into my parents room the other day to sneak a peek at his birthday presents. I saw him run out of the room a few moments later, when he refused to tell me why he ran, I went in and looked. I found a box of half-used condoms on the floor. My brother now refuses to say anything to my parents and seems very withdrawn, claiming he had dreams about lightsabers attacking him and having trouble sleeping or eating. And he's begun throwing out a lot of his Star Wars memorabilia. Please, help me help my brother.

This is the classic symptom of a young boy catching your parents in the act -- on several occasions. Keep an eye on your bro and make sure he doesn't spy on your parents.

You should speak to your parents and tell them what happened with your brother and what he found! they should not leave such things around the house, especially when there are kids.

Secondly, try to make him open up to you, tell him that whatever is troubling him will make things easier for him if he tells you about them... also, make sure to promise him not to say anything to another soul.

If what he tells you is traumatising, then what you should do is speak to someone you can really trust. It does not have to be your parents... someone that both you and him trust, maybe an uncle or another close relative.

Very good of you to help your brother.

I think it may be times your parents had a bird and bee's talk with him. NOT YOU!!!

He very well may be growing out of the Star Wars stuff.

Good Luck and God Bless you for being so concerned.

Don't worry he'll get past it eventually. There's nothing you can do, because he's too old for you to lie to him. Anyway that kind of stuff would freak anyone out no matter what age. Best thing is to try not to think about it.

i think YOU should let your parents know..because they can handle it much better than you can, plus your brother doesn't have to tell them himself...that must be really awkward though....i would creep out too,and if i had a big bro or sis i would want them to do the same for me...just dont make it too serious and scare him off or something

Just tell him it can be a "secret" between you two. Usualy he'll tell you. If you then decide it's something you shoudl tell someone else, mention to them that you said it was a secret, and ask them to address the subject politely.

Poor kid. Maybe spend some time with him & hopefully he will open up to you & tell you whats wrong ?

Have you told your parents what happened ? Maybe they can talk to him to & help to ease any concerns he may have ?

Hope this helps.
