How do I found out what God wants from me today???

My boyfriend's away at Newday this week with people from church (he's a leader for youth) and I want to use the time to get closer to God...but I've been constantly thinking abuot when he gets home, how much I've missed him and when he's going to text me again!! But I'm also thinking, I need to use this time to get a deeper more intimate relationship with God. I just don't know where to start! I am reading my bible and I am praying....I've got lots of books (i.e breakthrough prayer etc) which I'm reading...it's driving me crazy! Cos I don't want to get closer to God cos my boyfriend is or because i feel like I have to so we can get married. I want to because I want to!! I want to be able to say, guess what God taught me today!! when he gets back...please help!

I have to confirm, I DONT want to get closer to God to please my boyfriend, I want to because I want a deeper relationship with God. Not for anyone else.

There is some slight misunderstanding. You say you want to get closer to God to please your bf when he gets back? That's not a lofty idea!!! Desire a sincere relationship with God. Meditate on the Word of God and learn to listen to Him, speak to you. Don't wait for sms from your bf but wait for sms from God through His word or through the Holy Spirit. John 6:37 - Him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out - Go to Him in all sincerity and He will surely answer your needs.

Please read this post.

I'm a one time Christian who struggled with the same problem as you. Before you read more of these opinion based books, written by people (with their own, open agenda - to promote 'God') please look at a few other sources of information.

You write that it is driving you crazy, this I would agree with.

I have met many like you, the more that you try to get 'closer to God' the crazier you feel, appear to others and become. Before you go any further, examine the evidence critically assessed on the link I've attached and realise what danger you are in of suffering worse cognitive dissonance than you are already experiencing.

This is not a joke post, a flame-bait, or an illusion.

Please take some time out to read, for yourself, what others are telling you about with such utter conviction that you are prepared to drive yourself crazy for what they say.

Look at the references in the article, read and understand them. This may be the best thing you do all day.

Love is a gift from God isn't it. Maybe could thank God for the feelings you have and for the person he brought into your life somehow. This kind of thought should bring you closer to both.

r sure u want to know what GOD wans from u-since this question requires utmost sincerity without this u won't be able to get into the kingdom of heaven/god-which is yr very heart, just enter within by closing yr outer eyes and start watching whatever is happening within u,for more practical meditation u can chat with me but u must be serious in yr talks.

What sort of Sky Pixie is it that demands we humans spend all our time studying him/her? Just get on with your life, have fun and try not to hurt people. If your boyfriend won't marry you unless you 'get closer' to your sky pixie, then he's not worth marrying, frankly. Would you impose such conditions on him?

Its not a sin to think about your boy friend and I am sure God still understands because you have already given him your heart and he appreaciates.

God wants you to work hard at your job. That is what you're paid for, isn't it?
