The provincial official language is English. The national official languages are English and French. Which one applies depends on the jurisdiction; for example you can file your taxes in either language, but public schools are normally in English only.

English and French are the official languages in Nova Scotia, although there are lots of un-official languages also spoken in the province.

There is NO "official" language. But English, French, and Gaelic are common languages spoken in the area.
Just like the U.S.A. does not have an "official" language, but we speak mostly English...

English is the universal there...as all areas, different groups may have there own language of comfort/ethnic conversation.
