i was a smoker and i just quit three weeks ago, you know what convinced me?i know its silly but it worked, some professor of mine was like "it makes you older" and bam it just snapped in my head, i dont want no wrinkles or yellow teeth or poor lungs or a weak heart or **** like that and i'm not even 21 yet, so yea, with sum ppl i think that might work, esp. women, no lady wants wrinkles that early trust me. Other than that, what you can do is politely tell them you have an allergy against the smoke and that it seriously bothers you, it will cut down on the smoking and over all you wont have to be subjected to passive smoking, just make sure it doesn't go over board and bother people so they'd rather be away from you alltogether. Oh gawd. Stop trying to legislate the health of others. "Passive smoke" is total bullsh!t. Ever drive behind a city bus? Obnoxious, selfish, badge-worshiping idiots drive SUVs only an Army battalion really needs and you think SMOKERS are "destroying the environment"? LOL
Grow up.
"Humanity" has many, many bigger problems than smoking. Or have you missed the news lately? One exploded short range missile puts more fluorocarbons into the atmosphere in two seconds than every smoker in Rhode Island can produce in a year.
And besides, without the "Sin Tax" attached to every tobacco product, about every State in the union would go belly up on their budget. A massive hike in all other taxes would be required. A new depression would be ushered in. There'd be a rush on the Banks and panic in the streets. Society as you know it would crumble and the nation itself--in fiscal death--would be at the mercy of hostile foreign powers.
THINK.
Next time you see someone smoking "everywhere you go", stop and thank them.
Your future, our children's future, the very future of America is in their nicotine stained hands.
Amen

Did you know that the figures for death by passive smoking included such events as falling down stairs and breaking one's neck while living in a home with a smoker? No, really. I think this makes any data about the dangers of so-called passive smoking suspicious, to say the least.
Also, are you sure you want to open the door to forcibly correcting everyone's behavior?

I hope you don't drive with all this talk about fumes destroying the enviroment. And if you want to save people.... Try getting alcohol banned before you go after Smokers. I have yet to hear of someone getting pulled over for D.W.S. (Driving While Smoking) It doesn't impare someones judgement either. I have never heard a guy ask a girl to "Smoke Up" so he can have his way with her. I think there are plenty of other things to worry about then people killing their ownselves.

Unfortunately the commercials haven't worked too well. For decades cigarette companies targeted kids and because of peer pressure kids are still smoking.
You can't force anyone to do something they don't want to do, just as you can't force someone to stop doing somethinf they want to do. Education is the only way to change someones mind and get them to want to change. Unfortuanately, 10 yr olds are very impressional and suseptible to peer pressure and they rarely listen to adults or reason.
One thing I knowcan help is if you can find out where the kids are buying the cigarettes. If you can get it on videotape the police can put the store out of business or at least get the sales person fired and possibly imprisoned.

get them all pregnant.....it was the only thing that could make me quit, because it was no longer about me. it was the best motivation. my boy is 5 months old now and i want to smoke every damn day, but i don't because i want to lead by example and keep my boy smoke free when he grows up.
i believe people should have the right to smoke. all these people suggesting a ban are asking for the government to take away yet another freedom. isn't freedom what makes America great? so you don't smoke? so what! neither do i but lots of people do and it makes them happy. why take it from them? do you drink alcohol? should that be ban? how about a car? do you drive? that causes more pollution than cigarettes. should we take it from you? be careful what you wish for! do you really want more government control?

You cant stop them unless all tobacco industries be wiped out from the face of the earth. Perhaps, making smoking in public illegal could be a good start. But, the human rights activitists will be in rage.

A car or truck puts out more particulate pollution into the air in one day than a smoker does in one year. What kind of over-sized world-destroying vehicle do YOU drive?

Nothing!! Smoking and COPD make the world go round. Too much money in the disease. Cures or bans have no place in this capatalistic world. Smoke 'em if you got 'em.
