What is the appropriate digital camera for astrophotography?(What's your reason(s)?)?

Canon provides lots of support for astrophotography with their DSLRs. I'm never done the work, but have seen astrophotography done using Canon cameras and the results, which are spectacular. Here's the link: http://www.canon.co.jp/Imaging/astro/index-e.html

I imagine Nikon has something similar.

Canon all the way. Their lens quality is superb.
